The 60-Second Rule: Why the First Business to Reply Wins the Booking

Premium buyers ask three businesses at once. Here is how to make sure yours answers first, tonight, with tools you already have.

A buyer looking for a yacht for Saturday, a consultation at an aesthetic clinic or a test drive in a supercar rarely asks just one business. They message two or three, often late in the evening, often from another time zone. Then they go with whoever makes it easiest to say yes.

Most of the time that is not the best business. It is the fastest one.

Why speed beats price for premium buyers

People who can afford a €5,000 charter or a €20,000 treatment are not short of money. They are short of time. When they enquire, they are in the mood to decide. Every hour you wait, that mood fades and a competitor fills the gap.

A slow reply sends a quiet message: we are busy, you will have to wait. A fast, specific reply sends the opposite: we are organised, we want your business, and this will be easy.

The three ways businesses lose the first hour

1. The enquiry lands in the wrong place. WhatsApp on a manager's personal phone, Instagram DMs that nobody checks on Sundays, a website form that emails an inbox nobody owns.

2. The first reply asks a question instead of answering one. "Thanks for your message, what dates were you thinking?" when the buyer already said Saturday. Every extra back-and-forth loses people.

3. Nobody replies outside office hours. Many of the best enquiries arrive between 20:00 and 01:00. If your first answer comes at 10:30 the next day, someone else has already booked them.

How to answer in under 60 seconds, starting tonight

You do not need new software to fix most of this. Here is the free version.

Step 1: Put every channel in one place. Use WhatsApp Business (free) on one shared device or WhatsApp Business Web, and connect your Instagram account to Meta Business Suite so DMs and WhatsApp land in one inbox. Make your website form send to the same person.

Step 2: Write one instant reply that actually answers. In WhatsApp Business, go to Business tools, then Away message or Greeting message. Do not write "We will get back to you." Write something that moves the buyer forward:

Hi, thank you for getting in touch with [Business]. We are on it. To give you an exact price and availability, could you tell me 1) the date, 2) how many people, and 3) the best time to call you? You will have a full answer within the hour.

Step 3: Save your top five answers as quick replies. Prices, availability, location, what is included, how to book. In WhatsApp Business these live under Quick replies. Type "/" and the answer appears. Your team can now reply properly in ten seconds instead of five minutes.

Step 4: Decide who owns the evening. One person, on a rota, checks the inbox at 21:00 and 23:00. That alone will win you bookings your competitors are sleeping through.

The paid version: answering every message, in any language, at 3am

The free version gets you most of the way. The step up is an AI reply system trained on your prices, availability and tone of voice. It answers every WhatsApp, Instagram, email and website enquiry in under a minute, in the buyer's own language, asks the qualifying questions and books the call or viewing straight into your calendar. A person only steps in when judgement is needed.

That is what we build at SIXTY. But start with the four steps above this week, whether or not you ever work with us.

A quick test you can do right now

Send your own business an enquiry tonight, on WhatsApp and through your website, as if you were a buyer. Time how long the answer takes and read it as a stranger would. If it takes more than an hour, or the reply does not move you closer to booking, you have just found where your appointments are leaking.
